NEON GENESIS EVANGELION
After an extremely long wait, the final “Rebuild of Evangelion” film has finally landed a release date in Japanese cinemas. “Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time” will release on 23 January, 2021, bringing an end to the long-running series widely considered one of the best animes of all time.
The original series, “Neon Genesis Evangelion” (now on Netflix), ran from 1995 until 1996 in Japan, and was followed by the (extremely grim) feature-length “End of Evangelion” in 1997. It was later followed up by the Rebuild series, which 3.0+1.0 is the final entry in.
Creator of the series Hideaki Anno: “It’s been a quarter of a century since the start of the series, and it’s already passed five years since the year the series was set in. The flow of time goes so fast. I’ve been working on Eva since I first wrote the proposal in 1993. I never thought I’d last 27 years, but now it’s at the end.”
