They first met up at Iconoclast and launched this project together. A double premiere – the first ever track released under the name G-FX (producer Surkin and Japanese rapper Loota) and Jasmine Loignon’s first ever film, a highly personal short movie. Music and images were developed side by side. In the film, Jasmine sought to capture East Asian iconography, striking a balance between atmospheric contemplation and the violence of reality. In just a few minutes, the film moves from a quasi-abstract, atmospheric state to footage more anchored in the here and now, shifting from one age to another with our ever-present search for personal identity. The track by G-FX echoes all of this, with its mood made up of shimmering bronze, its haunting melody and air of indolent stasis, when in fact it is captivating our entire mind.
